Chris Hemsworth’s Netflix Film Extraction Set In India Gets A High-Octane Trailer

Netflix’s upcoming original film Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth in a leading role just got a high-octane official trailer that’s chock full of action. Set in India, the trailer projects the movie as being an extraction story with Hemsworth’s soldier / spy character tasked with bringing a kid to safety. The said kid is trapped in a crossfire / gang war between the overlords of India and Bangladesh. Check it out below.

Previously titled Dhaka, Extraction made waves with Indian fans when it became one of the major Hollywood action films with a notable lead to be shot in India. The film was shot extensively in Ahmedabad and Mumbai from November 2018 through 2019. Hemsworth himself was in the cities and posed for photographs and featured in candid videos amid a huge hype spurring from his appearance in the Avengers movies.

The connection with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame is further solidified by the producers who happen to be the directors of these films: the Russo Brothers. Netflix marketing understands this and is most certainly not letting this fact slide unnoticeable. Extraction also features an impressive Indian cast with the likes of Manoj Bajpayee, Randeep Hooda and Pankaj Tripathi though barring a few appearances, they’re mostly absent on the trailer which is heavy on focusing on Hemsworth and action.

The film should make for a fun, entertaining, casual watch given the ongoing coronavirus pandemic that has forced most cities into a lockdown. Eerily enough, a line in the trailer alludes to the city being in some sort of lockdown, a fitting if unintended parallel to real-life events.

Extraction premieres on Netflix on April 24, 2020. It also stars Stranger Things and Black Widow alum David Harbour along with Marc Donato, Fay Masterson and Derek Luke. Let me know what you thought about the trailer in the comments below.
