Disney just announced a Global Avengers Initiative for its D23 Disney Parks that will expand the world created by Marvel to craft more stories for theme parks across the world. The stories will feature characters and antagonists from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will craft new interactive experiences around them.
Among the experiences set to be created are Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle which centers on a trip to the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility gone wrong, leading viewers to battle Arnim Zola’s army of HYDRA swarm-bots by joining forces with Ant-Man and the Wasp. Experiences around Iron Man and Guardians of the Galaxy have already been created and the blog post informs us that more are on the way featuring the Mystic Arts of Doctor Strange or the “gravity-defying feats” of Spider-Man. There are also more such experiences promised featuring the likes of Black Panther and Captain America.
As of now, it is unclear if these experiences are connected to the MCU, despite use of the word “interconnected”. While Creative Executive Scot Drake mentions the team working closely with both Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment, the post doesn’t make it clear whether some new footage or voice-work will be shot for these theme-park rides. If anything, it’s highly likely that the ride experiences will be connected across each other and could barely build upon some tangential storylines in the MCU, without affecting the main narrative in any significant way.

In Disney California Adventure park, guests have been helping the Guardians escape the Collector’s Fortress in Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! And soon, in both Disney California Adventure park and Disneyland Paris, guests will encounter the heroes in new and exciting ways, from the mystic arts of Doctor Strange to the gravity-defying feats of Spider-Man. Guests will also experience the latest in Pym Technology with Ant-Man and Wasp and be wowed as Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Captain America and more leap into action on a moment’s notice.
