As promised, Warner Bros. uploaded the final trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. The trailer maintain’s the movie’s central premise of Dumbledore enlisting Newt’s help to hunt down Grindelwald but packs a much stronger punch with some brilliant edited synchronized to a clock countdown orchestrated using violins. Most importantly though, it introduces one of the first direct connections to the dark wizard Voldemort and it’s not the elder wand. But first, check out the trailer below.
That’s right, Nagini. The maledictus is shown to exist in the movie’s world which is a huge deal for Harry Potter fans, as she was Voldemort’s loyal pet who also carried one of his Horcruxes. Beyond that though, she hasn’t received an official history or origin story in the Potter books, a fact which could change with this movie. Also exciting is the choice of actors for playing young versions of Dumbledore and Grindelwald; they’re the same ones that played these roles in the Harry Potter movies. These overt connections to Potter-verse certainly have fans all over the internet excited and Warner Bros. even released a special Nagini poster to help contain some of the fan enthusiasm.
The trailer itself is wonderfully edited and simply flows breathlessly, leaving little room for dull moments. More importantly, despite showcasing plenty of sequences, it doesn’t reveal too much from the movie in terms of plotting or structure which is a great thing. We can’t wait for the movie to come out; for those unaware, The Crimes of Grindelwald will be releasing on November 16, 2018.
