The Matrix Resurrections Trailer Dropping Thursday, Teasers Released Online

Yes, it’s happening. Warner Bros. officially confirmed that The Matrix Resurrections trailer will be releasing online this Thursday, Sept 9, 2021. And to accompany the announcement, the studio has unveiled a bunch of teaser trailers in a viral marketing campaign of sorts which give us our very first footage at The Matrix 4.

First, the official announcement comes with a teaser background asking viewers to choose between the Red Pill and the Blue Pill. For Matrix newbies, that’s the equivalent of choosing to escapte the Matrix and enter the real world or returning back to the virtual reality of the Matrix. The pills then dissolve into the Matrix code, almost forming a silhouette of Keanu Reeves as Neo from the original movies in the process, before revealing the Trailer Thursday title card.

This same teaser also plays on one of the official Matrix websites. Back in 2003, the sites were great sources of info for accessing the trailers in the highest quality possible along with a bunch of other info so it’s good to see them return. However, on the website, it’s possible to click on the Red Pill and the Blue Pill to reveal individual teaser trailers.

The absolutely insane part is that the teaser trailers show different footage every minute you download them. Apparently, there are over 180,000 variations recorded for every single minute of the day. The footage changes slightly but essentially, every minute you download you get something different.

The footage in question gives us our first looks at Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, Yahya-Abdul Mateen II as a reportedly young Morpheus alongside franchise newcomers Jessica Henwick and Jonathan Groff. Let me know what scenes you get to spot in your downloads in the comments below.

Based on the ingenuity of this marketing campaign alone, I have faith that The Matrix Resurrections is going to be one hell of a ride.

The Matrix Resurrections is currently set for release on December 17, 2021.
