Tom Holland Addresses Sony-Disney Split & Spider-Man’s MCU Exit At D23 Expo

Spider-Man fans have had a rough week. After most headlines were dominated by Spidey’s split from the MCU, a social media frenzy was sparked launching discussions, petitions and angry reactions not just by fans but by celebrities involved with the MCU. In Disney’s ongoing D23 Expo today, Tom Holland briefly addressed those reports in a diplomatic manner, expressing his love for the fans regardless of the outcome.

It’s been a crazy week but I wanted you to know I am grateful from the bottom of my heart. I love you 3,000.

It’s a small acknowledgment but makes it pretty clear Holland, like most of the world, is well-aware of what’s going on and what the community wants. Holland has been pretty vocal and enthusiastic about Spider-Man’s inclusion in the MCU; Peter Parker’s arc in Spider-Man: Far From Home had projected him as the next Tony Stark. Which is why reports of the split were baffling to say the least.

Whatever happens, it’s going to be an interesting next few weeks. If I were to place my bets, I’d say Sony and Disney should eventually reconcile and reach a settlement. There’s just too much business to be done and money to be made with Spidey’s inclusion in the MCU that the studios would at least consider patching up for financial, if not sentimental reasons.
