Captain America 4 Under Development

Captain America 4 is officially under development. Well, sort of. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman is spearheading the project with writer Dalan Musson. There’s no release date, no director and no cast attached although it’s highly likely Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will return as Sam Wilson / Falcon / Captain America and Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier / White Wolf respectively.

For those who don’t recognize Musson, he’s the one who wrote Episode 5: Truth, one of the best reviewed episodes of the Disney+ series. With the limited news out there, there’s a myriad of ways in which the movie could go. And with the numerous setups hinted at towards the end of the show, a fourth Captain America movie could feature the return of several characters. John Walker as US Agent Walker, Sharon Carter as Agent 13 / the Power Broker, Daniel Bruhl as Zemo – everyone’s return is up in the air. That includes Chris Evans whose involvement in the movie remains unconfirmed.

Marvel has made three Captain America movies thus far. The second installment, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, was widely regarded as the finest MCU movies at the time and completely changed the tone of the character, bringing it to the modern-day world under a political thriller. A lot has happened since then and multiple people have donned the mantle of the titular superhero, which now rests with Wilson. Bucky on his part is no longer the Winter Soldier as all Hydra brainwashing has been removed from him. A fourth installment could go several ways given the wealth of possibilities.

It’ll also be interesting to see what it ends up being titled. Captain America: The Serpent Society perhaps?
