It’s confirmed. Avengers: Endgame is set to re-release in theaters with some new footage that includes a deleted scene as well as a post-credits scene. During the UK premiere of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige confirmed the news, stating that fans will be in for a few surprises.

Not an extended cut, but there will be a version going into theaters with a bit of a marketing push with a few new things at the end of the movie. If you stay and watch the movie, after the credits, there’ll be a deleted scene, a little tribute, and a few surprises. Which will be next weekend.
It’s worth setting our expectations straight. While any amount of new footage is a good-enough reason for fans to rewatch Avengers: Endgame, don’t expect plenty of new footage in this re-release. For the most part, it’ll be the same movie including a few things that got left out. This could also include Katherine Langford’s rumored deleted scene that was edited out of the movie, and dare I say leaving it out was deliberate.
It appears the real reason for this move is to let Avengers: Endgame beat Avatar at the worldwide box-office. It has already done so in the US but it’s come rather close globally; Endgame has made $2.744 billion compared to Avatar which made $2.788 billion, leaving a $44 million gap. This re-release should very easily help Endgame sail past the record in no time and if the success of Spider-Man: Far From Home rubs off, just as it happened with Captain Marvel, who knows we could see Avengers: Endgame pass the $3 billion mark at the worldwide box-office.
Avengers: Endgame returns to theaters next weekend, on June 28, 2019. It’s still unclear if this re-release is limited to North America or if it will happen the world over. Given the phenomenal response the movie got in markets such as China and India, it would be a shame to limit the release to US alone.
