Black Panther Wins Best Visual Effects, Costume Design and Production Design at Critics Choice Wards

The results of 2019 Critics Choice Awards are out and comic book fans have reason to celebrate. Marvel Studios’ Black Panther took home the Critics Choice Awards for Best Visual Effects, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design while losing out to Alfonso Cuaron’s Roma in both the Best Picture and Best Director categories. Black Panther managed to edge out some tough potential competition from the likes of Avengers: Infinity War and Ready Player One in the Visual Effects category so it’s a big win for the movie nonetheless.

Among the other wins were First Man which scored wins for Best Editing and Best Original Score. Both movies were heavily nominated with Black Panther securing 12 nominations and First Man scoring 10 nods. Among the other big wins were Christain Bale for his performance as Dick Cheaney in Vice, for which he underwent a radical transformation (yet again) while Best Actress was a tie between Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born and Glenn Close in The Wife.

There are still plenty of awards ceremonies to look out for, with this being only the start. Black Panther was nominated at the PGA Awards, as well as the Golden Globes and it remains to be seen how far it goes in the mother of all awards – the Oscars. Our congratulations go to all the winners, including First Man and Black Panther.
