Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 4 title revealed

HBO Asia has recently revealed the title of the fourth episode of Game of Thrones Season 7. Titled The Spoils of War the episode will be helmed by Matt Shakman and will premiere on August 6, 2017. While the title does not come with a plot synopsis, speculation has already begun as to what plot points and scenes it will likely cover.

Popular Game of Thrones fansite WinterisComing believes the shot of Daenerys riding the dragon released by Entertainment Weekly earlier this year will be featured in the episode. We know from set picture leaks that this sequence is a part of an elaborate war sequence that was filmed on the beaches of Malpatrida for around three weeks and that it involved over 500 extras constituting the Unsullied and Dothraki armies. If these points pan out, we can expect the ambush on Lannisters and / or the siege of Casterly Rock to take place in that episode. This makes sense as the next episode is likely to be concerned with Euron’s delivery of his newly captured prisoners to Cersei and Jon’s visit to Daenerys and as such, may not have the time to incorporate this battle.

Matt Shakman is the only new director on Game of Thrones this season with the other three being returning and experienced alumni. That said, Shakman has some impressive credits in having helmed episodes of well received shows House and Mad Men. And with the episode written by showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, he’ll certainly have some strong material to work with.

Game of Thrones Season 7 Episode 3 The Queen’s Justice premieres on Mon, Jul 31 at 9:00 PM PDT.
