Godzilla: King of the Monsters Comic Con Trailer Teases Epic Monster Battle

Of the many projects that Warner Bros. highlighted in its Comic Con panel was Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Set in Legendary Pictures’ monster-movie universe that will eventually see a Godzilla and Kong face-off, the sequel to 2014’s Godzilla sees the famed creature face-off against other threats including such legendary creatures as Mothra, Rodan and the three-headed Ghidora. Here’s a look at the trailer shown during SDCC 2018.

What’s notable is the sheer number of television actors cast in the movie. There’s Millie Bobbie Brown from Stranger Things who acquired immense fame after playing Eleven in the Netflix show, there’s Charles Dance, most well-known to Game of Thrones fans as the ruthless and cunning Tywin Lannister and there’s Thomas Middleditch who plays Richard, the CEO of Pied Piper in HBO’s Silicon Valley. And while the trailer is visually dazzling, it feels hollow in terms of story and looks like it’ll be pure visual eye candy with little substance underneath.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters releases next year on May 2019.
