Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Flaunts Its Epic Visuals, Hints At 17 Monsters In Final Trailer

If there’s one thing we can all agree on, is that the trailers for Godzilla: King of the Monsters showcase some spectacularly epic and beautiful visuals. Last year’s Comic Con trailers released at San Diego’s SDCC and Brazil’s CCXP both lived up to this expectation. Now, Warner Bros. has released a third and final trailer for the Godzilla sequel and if certain shots are any indication, there’s still some great looking stuff saved for the big screen. The trailer continues on the theme of earth being the home of the monsters, with humans the unwelcome inhabitants as they join forces with Godzilla to take down King Ghidorah and the army of monsters he controls. And it teases as many as 17 monsters uncovered by Monarch. Check it out.

The subtle reference to God-Zilla aside, the trailer is packed with visuals that look astoundingly gorgeous and frightening at the same time. Whether it’s Ghidorah emerging from the volcanic ashes (we previously speculated that to be Rodan) or Godzilla emitting his atomic breath at Ghidorah in what promises to be a showdown for the ages, there’s no dearth of epic shots for your eyes to feast on. And perhaps the biggest takeaway from this Godzilla Trailer 3 is the line that hints at the discovery / existence of as much as 17 monsters in Legendary’s MonsterVerse. That’s a mind blowing revelation and makes you wonder if we’ll see any more creatures that haven’t yet been showcased in the trailers. We’re already seeing Kong in next year’s Godzilla vs Kong, could we be getting a look at Mechagodzilla?

The worrying aspect with Godzilla movies has always been the plot. It’s just hard to take the concept of a monster fighting a heroic battle against another monster beside humans seriously. Director Michael Dougherty has promised that the movie will tackle serious themes and the trailers have so far conveyed an epic, somber, dark movie vibe that gels well with the premise being sold. Fingers crossed King of the Monsters can prove us wrong and indeed turn out to be king of the box office.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters releases in theaters on May 31, 2019. It is part of Legendary’s MonsterVerse and will be followed by the climactic showdown Godzilla vs Kong which is set for a Mar 13, 2020 release. For now, time to download and rewatch this epic trailer in hi-res, 5.1, 1080p quality.
