New Godzilla: King Of The Monsters TV Spot Debuts With New Footage; Trailer 3 Coming Soon?

Warner Bros. just uploaded a new TV Spot for Godzilla: King of the Monsters that, thanks to its ominous label at the end, could also double up as a trailer tease. Dubbed Time Has Come in lieu of a line spoken by Vera Fermiga’s character, the spot in question shows the arrival of the monsters in more detail as we see Rodan rise from the Volcano as well as shots of Mothra and King Ghidorah wreaking carnage, as Ghidorah battles Godzilla in mid-air. It then proceeds to some familiar shots we’ve seen in the second trailer, but not before ending with a label asking fans to see the full trailer online.

So what does this mean? Is Warner Bros. about to upload a “full trailer” online somewhere? Will this be Godzilla: King of the Monsters Trailer 3, the final one before the movie’s release? It’s odd to release a tease asking fans to jump online to see the full trailer when no new one exists there so I’m assuming Warner Bros. simply meant fans hop online and rewatch the latest trailer that premiered as part of CCXP, Brazil in 2018.

By all accounts, Godzilla: King of the Monsters has built a fair amount of hype but the real test will lie in the next few months. I’m still placing my bets that a third and final trailer for the movie will arrive that will not only kick off ticket sales, but also reignite the marketing frenzy. And with the arrival of movies like Shazam and Avengers: Endgame in April and Detective Pikachu in May (along with many, many other big-budget ones), Warner Bros. will have plenty of opportunities to play this (or any other trailer) ahead of previews to hold audience interest. Let’s hope they do a more visible marketing for this than their upcoming Shazam for instance.

Directed by Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits theaters worldwide on May 31, 2019. Follow our coverage right here on Appocalypse.
