A new trailer for Season 7 of Game of Thrones is out and, as if excitement wasn’t already at it’s zenith, the trailer does well to make the wait simply unbearable.
The trailer hints at the impending war for the Iron Throne that the entire show has been building up to. With the Lannisters seemingly cornered in from all directions by different forces that have allied against them, it remains to be seen how exactly Cersei plans on overthrowing this massive assault at King’s Landing.
While the Battle for the Iron Throne is an important aspect of the season, we could also have got a glimpse at what the bigger conflict is. Ser Davos’ musings about everyone needing to set aside their differences and unite to fight the bigger threat (or else it won’t matter who sits on the Iron Throne) is possibly the clearest indication of the larger threat of the White Walkers that is in all likelihood to emerge as the real issue towards the end of the season.
And the final sweeping shot with Drogon flying over hordes of charging warriors gives viewers a real taste of how epic the battles in the show are going to be. With a reduced season length (Season 7 has only 7 episodes) and a slightly delayed release, creators David Benioff & D. B. Weiss would have got more time per episode which seems to be visible in every frame of the trailer. The trailer has already crossed over 10 million views in less than 12 hours since its release giving several movie trailers a run for their views.
If the trailer is anything to go by, this season is going to shatter all viewership records for HBO. Season 7 for Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on July 16.
