As was anticipated last week, the first trailer for Shazam was shown off at San Diego Comic Con and is now online. In what’s now customary for the studio, Warner Bros. has uploaded the trailer on their official YouTube channel. We’ll save you some time so you can simply play the trailer through the embedded link below.
Shazam tells the story of Billy Batson who becomes the eponymous superhero by uttering the word Shazam. The trailer largely projects a fun vibe with Zachary Levi portraying the zestful Batson with high-octane energy while learning about his superpowers alongside his friend Freddy Freeman. He gains his powers from the original Shazam played by Djimon Honsou, whose casting was revealed only days ago.
The trailer largely sets up the tone of the movie as being a radically fun one while attempting to explain DC’s new protagonist to the audience. The antagonist is Dr. Thaddeus Sivana played by Mark Strong and Shazam is seen going punch-to-punch with him in a scene, set pics of which were leaked earlier this year. Finally, there are small cameos of Batman and Superman though you’ll need to see the trailer to understand what we’re talking about.
Shazam! looks like it’ll be a lot of fun and is set to come out next year on April 2019. Warner Bros. Hall H panel is in progress and the trailer for Aquaman should also be out anytime soon.
