Avatar Sequel Titles Reportedly Revealed

In a bit of unexpected news, the titles of all four Avatar sequels being helmed by James Cameron appear to have been revealed. The reveals were reported by BBC News which spotted documentation pointing to the titles, although they haven’t been officially confirmed or denied by Cameron himself. The disappointing bit is that the titles sound laughably bad and would be really hard to sell a film against, but then who are we to bet against the mighty Cameron.

Anyway, without further ado, the sequels will be called Avatar: The Way of WaterAvatar: The Seed BearerAvatar: The Tulkun Rider and Avatar: The Quest For Eywa. Yup.

As of this writing, it’s unclear which titles map out to which sequels, although I’d like to believe they’d correspond to Avatar 2Avatar 3Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 respectively. The mention of water in the second movie’s title would also make sense since Cameron has hinted heavily at a lot of underwater sequences being set in the movies, for which they’re developing new technology to add to its novelty when viewed on the big screen. Also, Kate Winslet’s presence in the cast as playing one of the sea-people and Cameron wanting to delve into the aquatic life forms lines up with that title. We also know Eywa is the goddess of Pandora’s Na’vi people but beyond that things don’t make sense at this point.

As much as we’d like to bet against James Cameron, the man has an unbeatable track record. Time and again, he was challenged by his detractors that his next outing would turn out to be a massive loss-making venture. And whether it was Terminator 2: Judgment DayTitanic or Avatar,

Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 are set for release on December 2020 and December 2021 respectively. Should they succeedAvatar 4 and Avatar 5 will follow in December 2024 and December 2025 respectively.
