Avengers: Endgame Earns $500 Million In China, Becoming Highest Grossing Hollywood Movie In The Country

Avengers: Endgame has surpassed yet another milestone, this time outside its home turf. According to box office estimates, Endgame has grossed more than $500 million in China. This accomplishment makes it the highest grossing Hollywood movie in the country, beating The Fate of the Furious which took home $393 million in 2017.

China as a country has become a hot, lucrative market for the kind of blockbuster-driven entertainment that Hollywood churns out. Endgame has shattered all expectations and forced a revision of projections; estimates now state that Endgame could end up making close to $625 million from China alone. This would make it the third highest grossing movie in China of all time including local releases; the highest grossing movie being China’s own The Wandering Lust at $691 million.

Endgame has broken numerous other records in China as well including ones for the most money earned at the Chinese box-office in a single day ($82 million) or week ($386). It’s doing phenomenally well, having grossed a billion dollars in the space of its weekend alone while opening to huge numbers in territories like the United States and India. By the time it ends its box-office haul, it could very well end up among the Top 3 highest grossing movies of all time.
