The first teaser trailer for Birds of Prey has dropped online. After a first look revealed by Margot Robbie mere hours ago, the teaser arrives giving brief looks at most of the movie’s cast, including Harley Quinn, Black Mask and everyone else. Check it out.
It would be grossly inappropriate to refer to this as a full-length trailer though. To be entirely honest, it’s not even a full-fledged teaser. From the looks of it, it appears more akin to a camera test that the cast were doing with their costume fittings and someone at Warner Bros. thought it would be a great idea to compile some footage and release it out there to get some feedback on the character designs. Besides, the movie hasn’t even begun filming yet and with its release still a year away, there’s no way they would be able to come up with any other footage to release.
What the teaser does though is give us great HD looks at the cast in character and costume. There’s Jurnee Smollet-Bell as Black Canary, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress, Rose Perez as Renee Montoya and Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask, the movie’s primary antagonist. We also get a first look at Chris Messina as Victor Zsasz and what is possible Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain, the young girl threatened by Black Mask and reportedly triggers the movie’s central plot.
The tone looks like it could be similar to Suicide Squad, yet stand out on its own. For now, the teaser itself doesn’t seem to be uploaded anywhere on Warner Bros.’ official channel, although it still appears completely legit considering the 1080p resolution. Besides, the editing makes it sound like it was intended to be released anyway. Do let us know what you make of the teaser in the comments below.
Birds of Prey comes out in theaters on Feb 7, 2020.
