Marvel’s Runaways Season 3 Will Be Its Last

Runaways has been cancelled. The show about a teenage gang of Runaways that take on their parents premiered on Hulu back in 2017 and has now been axed in a string of cancellations at Marvel TV. Hulu released the final trailer for Runaways Season 3 that premieres on the platform on December 13. The trailer double-confirms that the season is the final one.

With so many other projects being cancelled, including Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher at Netflix and Ghost Rider and Cloak and Dagger at Hulu, Runaways was the next obvious target. The move appears to be plan of a grander scheme to consolidate all Marvel properties under Kevin Feige, ever since he took the title of Chief Creative Officer. And with Disney+ on the horizon, this is more house-cleaning to ensure Marvel Studios has control of both Film and TV projects from hereon.

Thankfully, it looks like the makers of Runaways would have anticipated such a move and should hopefully be able to end the show with some closure. That, plus the fact that Season 3 will crossover with Cloak and Dagger should make for a compelling final outing that wraps up the storylines of characters from both the series.

Season 2 of Runaways ended with the revelation that the alien family has taken over most of the children’s parents as hosts. Their leader, Morgan, played by Elizabeth Hurley, emerges as the main threat and the teens must team up to thwart this once and for all. Except, it’s possible a member of their gang might have been infiltrated by an alien host as well.

Runaways premieres on Hulu on December 13.
