Tenet Set Photos Give First Look At John David Washington And Robert Pattinson

Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has been filming for a while now but until this point, involved mostly second unit actors and other extras. That is, until this point. The first Tenet set photos with its lead actors John David Washington and Robert Pattinson have now emerged and offer a clear look at the duo strolling the streets of Estonia, conversing. While it’s too early to tell, the few shots that we see of the two having some dialogue have a heavy Inception vibe to them, reminiscent of Leonardo DiCaprio training Ellen Page in architecting the ideal dream world.

Along with Washington and Pattinson, more set photos show the rest of the crew in action, including Nolan. The standout bit is a car chase being filmed with cop cars flanking a utility vehicle over a long stretch of road. Coincidentally, at least part of the filming involves a tram; could this be somehow connected to the recent rumor of a scene involving a tank and a tram?

And finally, if you’re into that sort of thing, there are some rather clear pictures of Christopher Nolan himself on set, having lunch. Guesses for what he’s having are welcome in the comments below but it’s good to have some set photos of the man behind the scenes himself.

Unfortunately, these pictures don’t give us anything concrete about the plot but do hint at a few things. The tram-tank link aside, it also suggests Pattinson may not have a bearded look, as was reported thanks to a casting call. This then begs the question: what was the point of including Ewan McGregor in the call? Is it possible that Pattinson has multiple looks in the film, one of which has him with a beard?

Whatever be the case, it’s mighty exciting to see the cast finally be snapped on set. With these sightings, the film now enters a crucial stage in principal photography. Expect a lot more set photos and spottings of these actors considering Tenet is out there filming in the open in Estonia (and seven other countries). At this rate, we should most likely get the first Tenet trailer sometime toward the year’s end, which is also when principal photography would wrap.

Tenet releases in theaters next year, on July 17, 2020. It is written and directed by Christopher Nolan and stars John David-Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Clemence Poesy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Dimple Kapadia with Kenneth Branagh and Michael Caine. Nolan will produce with his partner Emma Thomas with the film being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
