Marvel Studios dropped a fan-pleasing Phase 4 trailer and it came with a bunch of goodies. Amongst those, we get the first look at The Eternals. It’s not really a trailer for the movie; more a collection of scenes. Yet, excitement abounds as this is the first time we’re seeing any footage from Chloe Zhao’s MCU debut. We get a great look at Angelina Jolie in costume as Thena. Check it out below.

There’s lots more. Some spotlight is focused on Kumail Nanjiani’s Kingo, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Richard Madden as Ikaris and Gemma Chan as Sersi who Feige had recently described as the movie’s lead. Nanjiani in particular looks buff, suggesting he’s been working out tremendously, something he had alluded to. You can check out stills featuring these characters prominently below.

Zhao had ensured that despite The Eternals relying heavily on visual effects and CGI, she shot as much of it on practical locations as possible. We get a sense of some of that work as the vistas span barren lands and wide areas. Fans will be able to connect these to the set photos that were leaked in 2019 and 2020. Jolie’s costume in particular feels quite close to what we’ve seen in the leaks thus far.

Little is known about the plot except that the story will span thousands of years. Seeing as some of the Eternals are in their costumes while some are donning human attire, it’ll be interesting to see the angle Marvel adopts to convince audiences that these immortal beings have been living among us all along.

With The Eternals set for a Nov 5, 2021 release date, it’s only a matter of a few months now before we get our first official trailer. Perhaps Comic Con 2021, if it happens in some capacity, might be a great avenue for Marvel Studios to drop the first official Eternals trailer. Until then, this first look will have to do.
