Black Widow Super Bowl Trailer: “The Avengers Weren’t My First Family”

Black Widow got a Super Bowl trailer / spot of its own as Marvel Studios wasn’t going to let its only big summer release this year slide by. The spot contains mostly recycled footage from the first trailer and ESPN special look but also includes a few more new snippets of action to excite the Big Game crowd. There’s also an Avengers line thrown in for good measure:

As anticipated, we’re learning more about the Widow’s past through this movie. This spurs the line where Widow mentions that the Avengers weren’t her first family, suggesting that sequences involving her, Yelena Belova and the Red Guardian could take place in the prequel era. Given Scarlett looks her age, it’s possible the shots we see of them are in present time with actual, de-aged, prequel era shots being preserved for the final movie.

Black Widow hits theaters on May 1, 2020 (or April 30, 2020). The next few weeks should see the marketing blitzkrieg kick off in full swing.
