Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald Awarded Best Trailer

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, the second entry in the Fantastic Beasts franchise due for release later this year, has won an award even before its official release. Dubbed “Expellarmus”, the first trailer, or rather teaser that came out on March has been awarded Best Trailer at the Golden Trailer awards. It won in contention against Jumanji: Welcome to the JungleSolo: A Star Wars Story and Thor: Ragnarok. While it’s not tough competition by any means, the fact that it beat out the outstanding trailers of Ragnarok should be cause for celebration for fans of J. K. Rowling’s Wizarding world.

Principal photography on the movie wrapped quite a while ago. Director David Yates and crew would be hard at work on post-production which is sure to involve multiple visual effects. Meanwhile, writer J. K. Rowling has moved on, already begun penning the third in this five-film series. From the looks of what we’ve seen and read so far, the series looks like it will end with the great confrontation between Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald that took place circa 1945, at the height of World War II. The second move will presumably tackle Grindelwald’s rise to power and further infamy after he makes his escape from the Magical Congress of the United States of America (MACUSA)

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald is due for release on November 16, 2018.
