War Movie Trailer Surpasses 30 Million Views in 24 Hours, Trending at No. 1

War (2019) starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff is turning out to be a hotly anticipated mass entertainer. Much like the teaser released last month, the new theatrical trailer has garnered an enthusiastic response. The new trailer for War has been viewed over 25 million times in the last 24 hours on its YouTube channel alone, not counting views obtained from the trailer being posted via separate videos across social media.

Roshan has been responding to messages on his social media showering appreciation for the film. Featuring high-octane action sequences shot at inaccessible locations, War has an international look to it that’s being raved and talked about. The rivalry between the two leads and the ensuing cat and mouse game promises to be a plot that keeps viewers engaged.

Even so, some are criticizing the film’s overt emphasis on action and there’s a fear (echoed by my own) that the main narrative could fail to live up to mounting expectations. Actress Vaani Kapoor’s appearances in the trailer have also been met with some criticism; in an era where Bollywood women are being given meatier roles, this looks like a significant step back.

Time will tell how well War does. Directed by Siddharth Anand from a script he co-wrote with Shridhar Raghavan, it’s set for release in theaters on October 2, 2019. Follow our Facebook Page for more frequent updates on the movie.
