Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer Drops Online After CCXP 2019 Screening

After a solid tease yesterday, the first full-length Wonder Woman 1984 trailer has dropped online. The trailer was shown in its entirety at Brazil’s CCXP 2019 but as is customary at Warner Bros., trailers screened at such events soon make their way online to discourage leaks. Besides, this was one announcement we saw coming quite a while back.

The trailer is glorious and does Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince and her Amazonian avatar full justice. Wonder Woman kicks some serious butt and whips out her lasso quite often to dole out justice. The trailer is set to 80s retro music which does stand out like a sore thumb but fits the movie’s vibe very well. The action choreography is incredible and it looks like cinematography has stepped up as well in terms of capturing action-packed wallpaper-esque visuals, which include Wonder Woman riding lightning.

There are a lot of revelations in this trailer. We get a glimpse at Maxwell Lord played by an unrecognizable Pedro Pascal as well as the now deceased Steve Trevor played by Chris Pine, making a surprise return. It’s clear the filmmakers aren’t shying away about Pine’s appearance and have it out of the way so they can use him in marketing. Kristen Wiig appears as well though not in her Cheetah avatar and the little bits we see of her give the impression of a layered performance.

Wonder Woman 1984 hits theaters on June 5, 2020. It is directed by Patty Jenkins from a script co-written by her, Geoff Johns and David Callaham and stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince / Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Connie Nelson as Hippolyta, Robin Wright as Antiope and Pedro Pascal as Maxwell Lord with Kristen Wiig as Cheetah. It is set in the DCEU and will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Check out our Appocalypse Hub for the movie to know more details about it.
