The first poster for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow has been released. Well, sort of. Back in D23, which is also the last time we heard some major news about the film, the first poster and footage from the film had been released. And while the footage never saw the light of the day, the poster made its way online in screenshot form, until now. A hi-res copy of the Black Widow D23 poster is now released and you can check it out below:
While the poster itself is worth admiring in high definition, the exciting prospect here is the arrival of a trailer. Black Widow is set for a May 2020 release and November is already here which means it’s just about time for the trailer to pop up online. The last few summer releases have seen their trailers release on November end for Avengers: Infinity War and December first week for Avengers: Endgame. If Black Widow follows that pattern, we should have a trailer in about three weeks. The arrival of a poster should likely be followed by some more marketing material trickling down before the grand launch.
Black Widow has been in the public eye thanks to its extensive on-location shooting. Set photos made their way online regularly, whether it was from outdoor Norway or Pinewood studios. The logo itself was snapped from the sets, before being released in high resolution around D23. And while little is known about the plot, rumors have been swirling about it being set between the events of Civil War and Infinity War as well as before the MCU, serving as a prequel-midquel of sorts.
Black Widow is set for a May 1, 2020 release. It will be directed by Cate Shortland from a script by Jac Schaeffer and Ned Benson. It stars Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. Black Widow, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova a.k.a. (possibly) the new Black Widow, David Harbour as Red Guardian and an unknown actor as Taskmaster. O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz are also set to make appearances as Mason and Melina respectively.
