Christopher Nolan’s Tenet Commences Filming On Laagna Road, Lots Of Robert Pattinson Set Photos Emerge

After weeks of struggle, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet has finally begun filming on Laagna Road, Estonia, leading to a ton of set photos emerging from the location. We get a lot of photos showing Robert Pattinson and John David Washington in what looks like an ambitious chase sequence that’s an attempt at infiltrating a moving fire-brigade vehicle. Also, there are a lot of set photos of the duo sitting in a car with IMAX cameras mounted atop that, while admittedly a few days old, are still fun to look at.

Before you proceed though, a fair warning. Some of these images may be deemed spoilery in case you’re looking to avoid learning anything about Tenet. So if you wish to stay absolutely clear of any Tenet spoilers whatsoever, this is your chance. Turn back. Also, considering the sheer amount of set photos, this page may be a bit slow to load so I advise you to be patient while it does. I’m splitting the images into different galleries depending upon the shooting sequence but it may still take a while. Rest assured, the wait is totally worth it.

First off, about the Laagna Road sequences. Washington and Pattinson were spotted near the fire-brigade truck and were either rehearsing scenes or actually filming them, with a camera by their side. Pattinson was spotted with his stunt double so it definitely looks like his character will be involved intricately in the action, perhaps climbing the truck from the car they were in.

In some of the wider shots, director Christopher Nolan himself can be seen giving directions and chatting with the crew, possibly on the best way to set up the shot. Pattinson can be seen strutting along in a set of images that are since being widely circulated over the internet.

We also see some shots of filming on Laanga Road with multiple heavy utility vehicles engaged in a drive. Given the set pieces, it almost looks like Washington and Pattinson’s characters are looking to pull off some sort of a heist that involes the long Laagna Tee stretch, a fire-brigade vehicle and lots of planning. It would be the perfect opportunity for Nolan to use some of his editing chops to cut a non-linear narrative resulting in a mind-bending heist. Could this heist also involve a tank being driven through a tram at some point?

Lastly, there are some older set photos, and by older we mean only a few days, that show Pattinson and Washington in a car, presumably before the Laagna Road sequence. This could be the part where they’re planning the heist, which also ties in with set photos seen previously of the duo talking while walking along a roadside, with heavy Inception vibes.

Tenet is set to film in Estonia and multiple other countries until December. Filming on Laagna Road is set to take place between July 11 to 14, followed by July 17 to 20 and has been possible after some production hurdles and back and forth in securing permissions. There’s yet another chase scene to be filmed in India that could be a continuation of this scene if real-life locations are not at play, or an entirely different one. By all accounts, it looks like Nolan is going to blow it out of the park with his latest film.

Tenet releases in theaters next year, on July 17, 2020.
